“Commitment to inspiring quality practice in Schema Therapy”
Academy of Schema Therapy are a group of counselling and clinical psychologists providing an International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) approved accreditation programme comprising workshops and supervision. We have wide ranging experience in the field of Schema therapy both within the NHS and private sector settings of working with a breadth of mental health issues including personality disorders, eating disorders and chronic depression. We work with adults, couples and adolescent populations.
We feel passionately about bringing Schema Therapy into multiple settings and set up a 3- year programme piloting and delivering 21 session Schema Therapy for treatment resistant clients in the NHS which indicated that Schema Therapy can be effective as a short term as well as long term therapy for clients experiencing longstanding emotional difficulties.
Our belief in good practice is reflected in our collaboration with the 'Academie voor Schematherapie', a Dutch organisation of leading Schema Therapy therapists, who have offered Schema Therapy workshops and programmes in the Netherlands and Germany, some of whom offer supervision on our programme.
We are highly invested in bringing increasing recognition to Schema Therapy in the UK and have set up a Schema Therapy Special Interest group with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. In so doing, we aim to inspire other practitioners to develop robust skills in using Schema Therapy. We apply quality practice through promoting up to date knowledge of academic research in this field. More broadly we aspire to encourage creativity in the expansion of Schema Therapy across multiple settings including academic, healthcare and corporate arenas.
